Former England midfielder Glen Hoddle ‘lucky to be alive’ after heart attack

Mr Hoddle collapsed at BT Sport studios in October last year. He was rushed to hospital where he underwent a quadruple heart bypass before returning home.

Thanks to the quick thinking of Sound Engineer Simon Daniels who used CPR treatment as well as the use of a defibrillator, Glen Hoddle was treated before the paramedics made it to the scene. Glen said he ‘feels lucky’ he was in the studio at the time, as without intervention, he may have been one of the 9 out of 10 in the UK who, without intervention, die following a cardiac arrest.

Glen has said he’s recovering well and concentrating on walking several miles a day to keep his heart healthy.
