Free AED Training given to raise awareness of defibrillators in Essex

The owner of an Essex-based first aid training company has been inspired to offer free CPR training after learning that just 22 per cent of people would feel confident using a defibrillator in an emergency.

Local man, Richard Penny offered the training to 40 members of the public at Coggesall and taught volunteers how to use AED machines correctly.

Richard hopes that by running the workshops those attending will increase their confidence in using the life-saving equipment. At the end of their session participants were able to confidently handle the equipment, use the dummy to perform CPR and feel that they could help save a life if someone nearby suffered a cardiac arrest.
